Our Classes

  • Acting

    Students will workshop one classical monologue of their choosing, not exceeding 60 seconds in length. Focus on how classical texts influence modern theater. Focus on language, rhythm, and emotion.

  • Voice

    Students will workshop one 32 bar cut of audition music. It may be contemporary or classical. Full piece of will be performed at final review.

  • Dance

    Students will engage in audition-style dance classes, with routines taught on-the-spot in both jazz and ballet styles.

  • Audition Panel

    An opportunity for students to present their audition materials to the panel of instructors and receive feedback.

  • Mindfulness for Stage Presence

    Here, students will learn how to calm their nerves and be present during performances & auditions using mindfulness techniques, perfect for pre-audition or pre-show jitters.

  • Group Rehearsals

    Throughout the week, the students will put together one group number to be performed in the finale concert.

Cultural Experiences

Alongside their performance classes, students will have the chance to explore the finest attractions of San Juan. This includes the El Yunque Rainforest, stunning beaches, tours of Old San Juan, workshops in collaboration with the Conservatory of Music, visits to Piñones, and lessons in traditional dance.

The Details

  • Broadway Workshop Fee: $1,769  (does not include: hotels or local transportation)

    Broadway Workshop Fee (including housing):  $2,869  (includes hotel in doubles and local transportation to/from BIC events)

    Non-student Housing Fee: $1,125  (includes only a double hotel room shared with a student).  Specifically for a parent or guardian.

    Airfare, if needed, is not included in any Broadway in the Caribbean fees.

  • Hotel stay in double rooms (roommates will be assigned unless a preference is indicated on the registration form). Hotel information provided at a later date.

  • Ground transportation is included in the full-package cost, as per the itinerary, as well as all scheduled excursions.

    All local transportation between Broadway in the Caribbean events will originate from the host hotel.  Students from Puerto Rico or international students choosing alternative housing must provide their own transportation or meet at the host hotel.

  • Attending students should book flights early because this workshop occurs during the Island's "high season."  There are discount air services such as CHEAPTICKETS.COM or GOOGLE FLIGHTS to consider, as well as using miles from friends or family members to decrease the flight costs.

  • Daily breakfast, as well as four group dinners, are included in the cost.

  • Registration Deadline:May 31, 2026 (Limited spots available. Registration closes when sessions are full. Late registrations accepted as space permits.)

    Deposit: $300 non-refundable deposit due at registration

    Final Payment: $2,149 due on or before August 15, 2026

  • August 16 – October 1, 2025: 50% refund (excluding deposit)

    October 2 – November 1, 2025: 25% refund

    After November 2, 2025: No refunds

  • Scholarships are available through the Student and Youth Travel Association but require an application.  See https://sytayouthfoundation.org/road-scholarship/ for specific information.  The deadline for the current set of scholarships is March 27, 2026.tion

  • Parents wishing to travel to Puerto Rico are welcome to room with their student.  All Broadway in the Caribbean workshop activities are closed to parents and others.  However, all are welcome to attend the final showcase performance on Friday, January 1, 2027.  The housing fee for a parent rooming with their student at the host hotel is $1,125 (payable when registering your student).  No services beyond a shared DOUBLE room are provided.

Student Expectations

Material

Students are expected to be familiar with group performance material before arrival in San Juan. Additionally, students should be prepared to workshop one monologue not exceeding 60 seconds (classical), one musical audition cut not exceeding 32 bars each (classical or contemporary). Solo number for the finale performance may be a repeat of the workshopped audition cut, or student may prepare an additional second piece.

Clothing

Students will be required to be equipped with appropriate dance attire - including jazz and ballet shoes. Students will also provide their own costume for their solo performance number, although attire will be provided for the combined number.
